I think that Tokoyo DID live up to her father's expectation because she defeated the demon. Also, Tokoyo got rid of the the curse on the waters and got rid of the sickness inside of the Master. Tokoyo also saved the girl from being eaten from the sea demon.

Also, she was brave to even go to her father after a long and dangerous trip. And even when the old fisherman told her that there was a haunted ship, she was brave and stuck to her guts.
